Searching for Bait (RB)

Search By User

  1. Open the 'Search By User' popup.
    • In the Main Window, on the Search menu's Bait (RB) submenu, click By User, or
    • In the Main Window, select Bait from the drop-down list on the button bar, then click on the appropriate 'magnifying glass' button, or
    • A previous Bait search can be replaced by a new one by right-clicking on a BAIT node in the Search Results Tree and selecting By User.
  2. Set the search criteria in the 'Search by User' popup.
    • PI Name can be set to search for the name of the Principal Investigator on a Bait. Wildcard Characters are allowed; for example, if 'John L. Markley' is the entry in the PI Name field of a record,'*Markley*' will find the record while 'Markley' will not. Leaving an '*' will retrieve all records regardless of PI.
    • Lab Name is automatically set to the default lab of the current user and cannot be changed in this popup.
    • Lab Protocol is a drop-down list of Bait protocols maintained by the lab master that targets the current value in the Lab Protocol field in the Bait View.
    • Type is a drop-down list of the Type choices maintained by the lab master.
    • Status is a drop-down list of Status choices maintained by the lab master.
    • Labfund is a drop-down list of various sources of funding maintained by the lab master.
  3. Click Search in the search popup.

Search By Lab

  1. Open the 'Search By Lab' popup.
    • In the Main Window, on the Search menu's Bait (RB) submenu, click By Lab, or
    • In the Main Window, select Bait from the drop-down list on the button bar, then click on the appropriate 'magnifying glass' button, or
    • A previous Bait search can be replaced by a new one by right-clicking on a BAIT node in the Search Results Tree and selecting By Lab.
  2. Set the search criteria in 'Search by Lab' popup.
    • User Name can be set to search for the name of the User on a Bait. Wildcard Characters are allowed.
    • PI Name can be set to search for the name of the Principal Investigator on a Bait. Wildcard Characters are allowed; for example, if 'John L. Markley' is the entry in the PI Name field of a record,'*Markley*' will find the record while 'Markley' will not. Leaving an '*' will retrieve all records regardless of PI.

Search By ID

  1. Open the 'Search By ID' popup.
    • In the Main Window, on the Search menu's Bait (RB) submenu, click By ID, or
    • In the Main Window, select Bait (RB) from the drop-down list on the button bar, then click on the appropriate 'magnifying glass' button, or
    • A previous Bait search can be replaced by a new one by right-clicking on a BAIT node in the Search Results Tree and selecting By ID.
  2. Set the search criteria in 'Search by ID' popup.
    • Name is the Name of the Bait. Wildcard Characters are allowed.
    • External ID Name is an editable drop-down list that contains the System Resources URL Base Names of various public genomic and proteomic databases. Wildcard Characters are allowed.
    • External ID is an ID from the External ID Name space. Wildcard Characters are allowed.
  3. Click Search in the search popup.

Search By Protocol Tree

  1. Open the 'Search By Protocol Tree' popup.
    • In the Main Window, on the Search menu's Bait (RB) submenu, click By Protocol Tree, or
    • A previous Bait search can be replaced by a new one by right-clicking on a BAIT node in the Search Results Tree and selecting By Protocol Tree.
  2. Set the search criteria in 'Search by Protocol Tree' popup.
    • Type is a drop-down list of Type entries maintained by the lab master.
    • Status is a drop-down list of Status entries maintained by the lab master.
    • Labfund is a drop-down list of various sources of funding maintained by the lab master.
    • Lab Protocol is a drop-down list of Bait protocols maintained by the lab master that targets the current value in the Lab Protocol field in the Bait View.
    • Tree Node is a table of Protocol Tree Node Names and Values that needs to be matched. To add a row, a Name - Value pair, to the table, click on the ICON button on the right side of the Tree Node field. To delete a row, select it, then click on the ICON button on the right side of the Tree Node field. The Name is a drop-down list of the Tree Node names from the Lab Protocol selected in the Lab Protocol field. The matching of the Values is string-based, therefore Wildcard Characters are allowed.
    • Logical Operator allows one to select the logical operator AND or OR to be used for matching the Tree Node table rows. If AND is selected, only those Bait records will be returned that fit all of the Name - Value pairs. If OR is selected, those Bait records will be returned that fit at least one Name - Value pair in the table.
  3. Click Search in the search popup.

Note

Search By Date

  1. Open the 'Search By Date' popup.
    • In the Main Window, on the Search menu's Bait (RB) submenu, click By Date, or
    • A previous Bait search can be replaced by a new one by right-clicking on a BAIT node in the Search Results Tree and selecting By Date.
  2. Set the search criteria in 'Search by Date' popup.
    • Created By is the Username of the person who created the Bait record. Wildcard Characters are allowed.
    • Created Start Date is the earliest date the Bait record was created. To set it to an '*', click on it, then clear, or enter an '*', into any of the Year, Month or Day fields.
    • Created End Date is the latest date the Bait record was created. To set it to an '*', click on it, then clear, or enter an '*', into any of the Year, Month or Day fields.
    • Modified By is the Username of the person who last modified the Bait record. Wildcard Characters are allowed.
    • Modified Start Date is the earliest date the Bait record was modified. To set it to an '*', click on it, then clear, or enter an '*', into any of the Year, Month or Day fields.
    • Modified End Date is the latest date of the last modification of the Bait record. To set it to an '*', click on it, then clear, or enter an '*', into any of the Year, Month or Day fields.
    • Lab Protocol is a drop-down list of Bait protocols maintained by the lab master.
    • Type is a drop-down list of Type choices maintained by the lab master.
    • Status is a drop-down Status choices maintained by the lab master.
    • Labfund is a drop-down list of various sources of funding maintained by the lab master.

Search By List

  1. Open the 'Search By List' popup.
    • In the Main Window, on the Search menu's Bait (RB) submenu, click By List, or
    • In the Main Window, select Bait (RB) from the drop-down list on the button bar, then click on the appropriate 'magnifying glass' button, or
    • A previous Bait search can be replaced by a new one by right-clicking on a BAIT node in the Search Results Tree and selecting By List.
  2. Set the search criteria in 'Search by List' popup.
    • DB# List is the list of Bait Database Nos. The numbers in the list can be separated by space, tab, comma, semicolon, or end of line. Alternatively, if there are DBNo List (LI) records for Bait records, they can be selected from the dropdown list.
  3. Click Search in the search popup.

Search By Linked Item List

  1. Open the 'Search By By Linked Item List' popup.
    • In the Main Window, on the Search menu's Bait (RB) submenu, click By Linked Item List, or
    • A previous Bait search can be replaced by a new one by right-clicking on a BAIT node in the Search Results Tree and selecting By Linked Item List.
  2. Set the search criteria in 'Search by Linked Item List' popup.
    • Item Type is a drop-down list of Sesame Items a Bait can be linked to.
    • Item Nos is the list of Sesame Item Database Nos selected in Item Type. The numbers in the list can be separated by space, tab, comma, semicolon, or end of line. Alternatively, if there are DBNo List (LI) records for the selected Sesame Item, they can be selected from the dropdown list.
  3. Click Search in the search popup.
