Searching for Mass Samples (JM)

Search By Owner

  1. Open the 'Search By Owner' popup.
    • In the Main Window, on the Search menu's Mass Sample (JM) submenu, click By Owner, or
    • In the Main Window, select Mass Sample (JM) from the drop-down list on the button bar, then click on the appropriate 'magnifying glass' button, or
    • A previous Mass Sample search can be replaced by a new one by right-clicking on a MASSSAMPLE node in the Search Results Tree and selecting By Owner.
  2. Set the search criteria in 'Search by Owner' popup.
    • Owner is the Username of the person who created the Mass Sample record. Wildcard Characters are allowed.
    • Lab Protocol is a drop-down list of Mass Sample protocols maintained by the lab master.
    • Type is a drop-down list of Type choices, for example 'Pipeline' or 'R and D', maintained by the lab master.
    • Status is a drop-down list of Status choices maintained by the lab master.
    • Labfund is a drop-down list of various sources of funding maintained by the lab master.
  3. Click Search in the search popup.

Note

Search By ID

  1. Open the 'Search By ID' popup.
    • In the Main Window, on the Search menu's Mass Sample (JM) submenu, click By ID, or
    • In the Main Window, select Mass Sample (JM) from the drop-down list on the button bar, then click on the appropriate 'magnifying glass' button, or
    • A previous Mass Sample search can be replaced by a new one by right-clicking on a MASSSAMPLE node in the Search Results Tree and selecting By ID.
  2. Set the search criteria in 'Search by ID' popup.
    • Name is the Name of the Mass Sample. Wildcard Characters are allowed.
    • External ID Name is an editable drop-down list that contains the System Resources URL Base Names of various public genomic and proteomic databases. Wildcard Characters are allowed.
    • External ID is an ID from the External ID Name space. Wildcard Characters are allowed.
    • User Label is a user defined label for the Mass Sample. Wildcard Characters are allowed.
  3. Click Search in the search popup.

Search By Content

  1. Open the 'Search By Content' popup.
    • In the Main Window, on the Search menu's Mass Sample (JM) submenu, click By Content, or
    • In the Main Window, select Mass Sample (JM) from the drop-down list on the button bar, then click on the appropriate 'magnifying glass' button, or
    • A previous search Mass Sample can be replaced by a new one by right-clicking on a MASSSAMPLE node in the Search Results Tree and selecting By Content.
  2. Set the search criteria in 'Search by Content' popup.
    • Owner is the Username of the person who created the Mass Sample record. Wildcard Characters are allowed.
    • Name is Name of the Mass Sample with which the record is associated. Wildcard Characters are allowed.
    • Spectrum Type is a drop-down list of mass spectrometry analysis types maintained by the lab master.
    • Instrument Used is a drop-down list of mass spectrometry instruments maintained by the lab master.
    • Type is a drop-down list of the Type choices maintained by the lab master.
    • Status is a drop-down list of Status choices maintained by the lab master.
    • Labfund is a drop-down list of various sources of funding maintained by the lab master.
    • User Label is a user defined label for the Mass Sample. Wildcard Characters are allowed.
  3. Click Search in the search popup.

Search By Characteristics

  1. Open the 'Search By Characteristics' popup.
    • In the Main Window, on the Search menu's Mass Sample (JM) submenu, click By Characteristics, or
    • A previous Mass Sample search can be replaced by a new one by right-clicking on a MASSSAMPLE node in the Search Results Tree and selecting By Characteristics.
  2. Set the search criteria in 'Search by Characteristics' popup.
    • Residue Length is the length of the Amino Acid Sequence. The comparison operator options are in a drop-down list.
    • No of Cys is the number of Cysteines in the Amino Acid Sequence. The comparison operator options are in a drop-down list.
    • Mol Weight is the molecular weight of the Amino Acid Sequence. The comparison operator options are in a drop-down list.
    • pI is the isoelectric point estimate for the Amino Acid Sequence. The comparison operator options are in a drop-down list.
    • Absorbance is the absorbance (= extinction coefficient x concentration x a given path length) estimate for the Amino Acid Sequence. The comparison operator options are in a drop-down list.
    • Compound Operator allows one to select the logical operator AND or OR to be used between the search criteria. If AND is selected, only those Mass Samples will be returned that fit the search criteria. If OR is selected, those Mass Samples will be returned that fit at least one of them.
  3. Click Search in the search popup.

Search By Action

  1. Open the 'Search By Action' popup.
    • In the Main Window, on the Search menu's Mass Sample (JM) submenu, click By Action, or
    • A previous Mass Sample search can be replaced by a new one by right-clicking on a MASSSAMPLE node in the Search Results Tree and selecting By Action.
  2. Set the search criteria in 'Search by Action' popup.
    • Postion determines the position of the action one is searching for in time. Any will target all the actions attached to a Mass Sample, while Last targets only the last one.
    • Item Lab Protocol is a drop-down list of Mass Sample protocols maintained by the lab master that targets the current value in the Lab Protocol field in the Mass Sample View.
    • Type is a drop-down list of Type choices maintained by the lab master.
    • Status is a drop-down list of Status choices maintained by the lab master.
    • Labfund is a drop-down list of various sources of funding maintained by the lab master.
    • Start Date is the earliest date the Action was added to a Mass Sample. To set it to an '*', click on it, then clear, or enter an '*', into any of the Year, Month or Day fields.
    • End Date is the latest date the Action was added to a Mass Sample. To set it to an '*', click on it, then clear, or enter an '*', into any of the Year, Month or Day fields.
    • Source Organism is a drop-down list of organisms maintained by the lab master.
    • Action Lab Protocol is a drop-down list of Mass Sample protocols maintained by the lab master that targets the value in the Lab Protocol column of the Action field in the Mass Sample View. As a Mass Sample can have multiple Lab Protocols associated with it, this value can be different from the value in Item Lab Protocol.
    • Include Retired Actions controls if the retired Actions will be shown in the Action field for the Lab Protocol selected in Action Lab Protocol.
    • Action Present Match allows one to select the logical operator AND or OR to be used for matching the actions attached to a Mass Sample. If AND is selected, only those Mass Samples will be returned that have all of the selected Present Actions attached. If OR is selected, those Mass Samples will be returned that have at least one of the selected Present Actions attached.
    • Action Not Present Match allows one to select the logical operator AND or OR to be used for matching the actions not attached to a Mass Sample. If AND is selected, only those Mass Samples will be returned that don't have any of the selected Not Present Actions attached. If OR is selected, those Mass Samples will be returned that don't have at least one of the selected Not Present Actions attached.
    • Action is a multi-selection checkbox that contains all the Actions associated with the Lab Protocol selected in Action Lab Protocol.
  3. Click Search in the search popup.

Search By Protocol Tree

  1. Open the 'Search By Protocol Tree' popup.
    • In the Main Window, on the Search menu's Mass Sample (JM) submenu, click By Protocol Tree, or
    • A previous Mass Sample search can be replaced by a new one by right-clicking on a MASSSAMPLE node in the Search Results Tree and selecting By Protocol Tree.
  2. Set the search criteria in 'Search by Protocol Tree' popup.
    • Type is a drop-down list of Type entries maintained by the lab master.
    • Status is a drop-down list of Status entries maintained by the lab master.
    • Labfund is a drop-down list of various sources of funding maintained by the lab master.
    • Lab Protocol is a drop-down list of Mass Sample protocols maintained by the lab master that targets the current value in the Lab Protocol field in the Mass Sample View.
    • Tree Node is a table of Protocol Tree Node Names and Values that needs to be matched. To add a row, a Name - Value pair, to the table, click on the ICON button on the right side of the Tree Node field. To delete a row, select it, then click on the ICON button on the right side of the Tree Node field. The Name is a drop-down list of the Tree Node names from the Lab Protocol selected in the Lab Protocol field. The matching of the Values is string-based, therefore Wildcard Characters are allowed.
    • Logical Operator allows one to select the logical operator AND or OR to be used for matching the Tree Node table rows. If AND is selected, only those Mass Samples will be returned that fit all of the Name - Value pairs. If OR is selected, those Mass Samples will be returned that fit at least one Name - Value pair in the table.
  3. Click Search in the search popup.

Search By Date

  1. Open the 'Search By Date' popup.
    • In the Main Window, on the Search menu's Mass Sample (JM) submenu, click By Date, or
    • A previous Mass Sample search can be replaced by a new one by right-clicking on a MASSSAMPLE node in the Search Results Tree and selecting By Date.
  2. Set the search criteria in 'Search by Date' popup.
    • Created By is the Username of the person who created the Mass Sample record. Wildcard Characters are allowed.
    • Created Start Date is the earliest date the Mass Sample record was created. To set it to an '*', click on it, then clear, or enter an '*', into any of the Year, Month or Day fields.
    • Created End Date is the latest date the Mass Sample record was created. To set it to an '*', click on it, then clear, or enter an '*', into any of the Year, Month or Day fields.
    • Modified By is the Username of the person who last modified the Mass Sample record. Wildcard Characters are allowed.
    • Modified Start Date is the earliest date the Mass Sample record was modified. To set it to an '*', click on it, then clear, or enter an '*', into any of the Year, Month or Day fields.
    • Modified End Date is the latest date of the last modification of the Mass Sample record. To set it to an '*', click on it, then clear, or enter an '*', into any of the Year, Month or Day fields.
    • Lab Protocol is a drop-down list of Mass Sample protocols maintained by the lab master.
    • Type is a drop-down list of Type choices maintained by the lab master.
    • Status is a drop-down Status choices maintained by the lab master.
    • Labfund is a drop-down list of various sources of funding maintained by the lab master.
  3. Click Search in the search popup.

    • In the Main Window, on the Search menu's Mass Sample (JM) submenu, click By Location, or
    • In the Main Window, select Mass Sample (JM) from the drop-down list on the button bar, then click on the appropriate 'magnifying glass' button, or
    • A previous Mass Sample search can be replaced by a new one by right-clicking on a MASSSAMPLE node in the Search Results Tree and selecting By Location.
  2. Set the search criteria in 'Search by Location' popup.
    • Room is a drop-down list of rooms maintained by the lab master.
    • Freezer is a drop-down list of freezers and refrigerators maintained by the lab master.
    • Rack is a drop-down list of racks maintained by the lab master.
    • Shelf is a drop-down list of shelves maintained by the lab master.
    • Tower is the tower where the Mass Sample is stored. Wildcard Characters are allowed.
    • Box is the box where the Mass Sample is stored. Wildcard Characters are allowed.
    • Pos'n Box is the box position where the Mass Sample is stored. Wildcard Characters are allowed.
  3. Click Search in the search popup.

Note

Search By List

  1. Open the 'Search By List' popup.
    • In the Main Window, on the Search menu's Mass Sample (JM) submenu, click By List, or
    • In the Main Window, select Mass Sample (JM) from the drop-down list on the button bar, then click on the appropriate 'magnifying glass' button, or
    • A previous Mass Sample search can be replaced by a new one by right-clicking on a MASSSAMPLE node in the Search Results Tree and selecting By List.
  2. Set the search criteria in 'Search by List' popup.
    • DB# List is the list of Mass Sample Database Nos. The numbers in the list can be separated by space, tab, comma, semicolon, or end of line. Alternatively, if there are DBNo List (LI) records for Mass Samples, they can be selected from the dropdown list.
  3. Click Search in the search popup.

Note

Search By Linked Item List

  1. Open the 'Search By By Linked Item List' popup.
    • In the Main Window, on the Search menu's Mass Sample (JM) submenu, click By Linked Item List, or
    • A previous Mass Sample search can be replaced by a new one by right-clicking on a MASSSAMPLE node in the Search Results Tree and selecting By Linked Item List.
  2. Set the search criteria in 'Search by Linked Item List' popup.
    • Item Type is a drop-down list of Sesame Items a Mass Sample can be linked to.
    • Item Nos is the list of Sesame Item Database Nos selected in Item Type. The numbers in the list can be separated by space, tab, comma, semicolon, or end of line. Alternatively, if there are DBNo List (LI) records for the selected Sesame Item, they can be selected from the dropdown list.
  3. Click Search in the search popup.
