Creating A New Can Do

A new Can Do (i.e., a new row in the Title table containing the username of a lab member to whom Can Do Resources can be assigned) can be created;

Assigning Resources to a Can Do

This allows a lab member to maintain a Can Do Resource.

  1. Make the Can Do window active in the Board.
  2. Search By Lab or By Date.
  3. Choose a user by clicking on a username in the Title field.
  4. Click on the ICON button on the right side of the Can Do Resource field; a new row will appear in the Can Do Resource field.
  5. Click on the new row and choose a Lab Resource, Report or Bulk XML Dump from the dropdown list.
  6. Save the Can Do by Can DoSave Can Do.

Assigning Can Not Edits to a Can Do

This disallows a lab member from editing particular item types or particular cells within item types.

  1. Make the Can Do window active in the Board.
  2. Search By Lab or By Date.
  3. Choose a user by clicking on a username in the Title field.
  4. Click on the ICON button on the right side of the Can Not Edit field; a new row will appear in the Can Not Edit field.
  5. Click on the new row and choose a an Item Type and Cell Name from the dropdown list.
  6. Save the Can Do by Can DoSave Can Do.

Save As New Can Do

This saves the Can Do as a new entry in the database.

  1. Make the Can Do window active in the Board.
  2. On the Can Do menu click Save As New Can Do, or click the Save As New Can Do button in the button bar.

Save Can Do

This saves the Can Do in the database.

  1. Make the Can Do window active in the Board.
  2. On the Can Do menu click Save Can Do, or click the Save Can Do button in the button bar.

Delete Can Do

This removes the Can Do from the database.

  1. Make the Can Do window active in the Board.
  2. Choose a Can Do in the Title table by clicking on it.
  3. On the Can Do menu click Delete Can Do.
  4. If you are sure you want to remove the Can Do from the database, Click OK.

Note

Refresh Can Do

This reverts the data for the Can Do to the version in the database.

  1. Make the Can Do window active in the Board.
  2. On the Can Do menu click Refresh Can Do.

Note

Clear Can Do

When a Can Do is open, this clears all fields, creating a blank form for creation of a new Can Do.

  1. Make the Can Do window active in the Board.
  2. On the Can Do menu click Clear Can Do.

Close Can Do

This closes the window.

  1. Make the Can Do window active in the Board.
  2. On the Can Do menu click Close Can Do, or click the X button on the window's Title bar.

Fill All For All

This enters all possible Item Types into the Can Not Edit field and 'All But Show Buttons' into the Cell Name field, i.e. it allows no editing by that lab member.

  1. Make the Can Do window active in the Board.
  2. On the Edit menu click Fill All for All.

Add Item Type

This enters the Item Type chosen into Can Not Edit and all possible Cell Names, i.e. it allows no editing of that Item Type by that lab member.

  1. Make the Can Do window active in the Board.
  2. On the Edit menu click Add Item Type.
  3. Select the Item Type in the 'Add Item Type' popup.
  4. Click OK.

Note

Remove Item Type

This removes all instances of a selected Item Type.

  1. Make the Can Do window active in the Board.
  2. On the Edit menu click Remove Item Type.
  3. Select an Item Type (a row) in the Can Not Edit Field.
  4. Click OK in the 'Are You Sure?' popup.

Note

Clone Can Not Edit

This copies the Can Not Edit list from a selected Can Do to the current Can Do.

  1. Make the Can Do window active in the Board.
  2. Choose a Can Do.
  3. On the Edit menu click Clone Can Not Edit.
  4. Select in the 'Clone Can Not Edit' popup the Username of the user whose editing privileges you wish to copy to the current one.
  5. Click OK.

Search By Lab

This allows searching for Can Do items by Username, Can Do Resource, or Type.

  1. Make the Can Do window active in the Board.
  2. In the popup, fill in one or more fields.
    • Username is a dropdown list of lab member usernames.
    • Can Do Resource is a dropdown list of Can Do Resources that can be assigned to a lab member.
    • Type is a dropdown list of Can Do Types maintained by the lab master.
  3. Click Search.

Search By Date

This allows searching for Can Do items by the username of the lab member creating or modifying it, Created By or Modified By date ranges, Type, or Status.

  1. Make the Can Do window active in the Board
  2. In the popup, fill in one or more fields.
    • Created By is the username of the lab member who created the Can Do.
    • Created Start Date is the first date in a range within which the Can Do was created.
    • Created End Date is the last date in a range within which the Can Do was created.
    • Modified By is the username of the lab member who last modified the Can Do.
    • Modified Start Date is the first date in a range within which the Can Do was modified.
    • Modified End Date is the last date in a range within which the Can Do was modified.
    • Type is a dropdown list of Can Do Types maintained by the lab master.
  3. Click Search.

Report

This creates a text report for the Can Do.

  1. Make the Can Do window active in the Board.
  2. In the Report menu click Report.

Text Report All

This creates a text report for all Can Dos.

  1. Make the Can Do window active in the disk.
  2. In the Report menu click Text Report All.
  3. If you want to save the file in a different folder, locate and open the folder.
  4. In the File Name box, type a name for the file.
  5. Click Save.

Report Can Do Resources

This creates a table with limited editablilty listing all Usernames with Can Dos and the Resources assigned to them.

  1. Make the Can Do window active in the Board.
  2. In the Report menu click Can Do Resources.
  3. The table cannot be edited by using dropdown menus as in an individual Can Do, but can be edited using the functions under the Table Report menu like Copy Rows, Paste Rows, etc.

Report Can Not Edit Cells

This creates an table with limited editablilty listing all Usernames with Can Not Edits and the Resources assigned to them.

  1. Make the Can Do window active in the Board.
  2. In the Report menu click Can Do Edit Cells.
  3. The table cannot be edited by using dropdown menus as in an individual Can Do, but can be edited using the functions under the Table Report menu, like Copy Rows, Paste Rows, etc.

Record XML Dump

This saves an XML report of the Can Do to the disk.

  1. Make the Can Do window active in the Board.
  2. In the Report menu click Record XML Dump.
  3. Set the values in 'XML Report' popup.
    • Inline DTD determines if the Document Type Definition (DTD) should be included in the file.
    • Formatting (indents and newlines) determines if the resulting file should be formatted.
    • File Name is the name of the file. To set it, click on the field, then set the values in the 'Save' popup.
      • If you want to save the file in a different folder, locate and open the folder.
      • In the File Name box, type a name for the file.
      • Click Save.
  4. Click Report.

This saves an XML report of all Can Dos to the disk.

  1. Make the Can Do window active in the Board.
  2. In the Report menu click Bulk XML Dump.
  3. Set the values in 'XML Report' popup.
    • Inline DTD determines if the Document Type Definition (DTD) should be included in the file.

This assigns a Can Do Resource to the user.

  1. Make the Can Do window active in the Board.
  2. Choose a user by clicking on a username in the Title field.
  3. Click on the ICON button on the right side of the Can Do Resource field; a new row will appear in thefield.
  4. Click on the new row and choose an Can Do Resource from the dropdown list.

Note

Remove Can Do Resource

This removes a Can Do Resource.

  1. Make the Can Do window active in the Board.
  2. Choose a row in the Can Do Resource field to delete.
  3. Click on the ICON button on the right side of the field.

Note

Add Can Not Edit

  1. This assigns a Can Not Edit to the user.
  2. Make the Can Do window active in the Board.
  3. Choose a user by clicking on a username in the Title field.
  4. Click on the ICON button on the right side of the Can Not Edit field; a new row will appear in the Can Not Edit field.
  5. Click on the new row and choose an Item Type and Cell Name from the dropdown lists.

Remove Can Not Edit

This removes a Can Not Edit.

  1. Make the Can Do window active in the Board.
  2. Choose a row in the Can Not Edit field to delete.
  3. Click on the ICON button on the right side of the field.
